Central Maine Growth Council and Dirigo Labs are proud to announce their selection as the 2024 recipient of the Small Business Administration (SBA) Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program Award for the state of Maine to support aspiring Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grantees. Dirigo Labs’ SBIR Resource Center is here to guide startups through the SBIR journey, from initial ideation to commercialization and funding.

Our SBIR Resource Center offers a range of specialized services tailored to help founders succeed in securing SBIR and STTR grants:

Provides training and guidance to help startups create comprehensive commercialization plans aligned with SBIR funding requirements.

Dirigo Labs operates an 8-week incubator program in the Fall, a 12-week accelerator program in the Spring, and a 9-part financial modeling series for in-depth training and support.

Access to an in-house expert who provides one-on-one guidance, connects startups with valuable resources, and offers personalized advice on navigating the SBIR application process and commercialization strategies.

One-on-one meetings to assess eligibility, agency fit, and project alignment with SBIR requirements. 

Hosts workshops, including webinars with federal agency representatives, to cover SBIR application topics and agency-specific guidelines.

Offers support on SBIR proposal development, market analysis, and project planning with help from a network of industry experts.

Connects startups with experienced mentors, including experts in technical fields, commercialization, and funding, for ongoing support throughout the SBIR process.

Through our partnership with the Maine Technology Institute (MTI), startups receive additional layers of support from MTI’s Technical Assistance Program (TAP) team, who provide specialized guidance and resources to help strengthen grant applications and navigate the SBIR process.

Dirigo Labs seeks a seasoned SBIR Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) to join the Dirigo Labs’ team. The EiR will play a critical role in supporting DL’s programming, including assisting startups and businesses navigate the complexities of SBIR/STTR applications and commercializing their technologies.
